چکیده
Aortic infection, or aortitis, is a rare entity that can lead to aneurysm or mycotic pseudoaneurysm formation. It affects patients with aortic arteriosclerosis or simultaneous infective endocarditis, and is rare in patientswithout these predispositions. Moreover, while aortic wall infection can lead to aneurysmatic dilatation, it is much more common for a previously dilated vessel to become infected. Themost frequently isolatedmicroorganisms are species of Staphylococcus, Enterococcus and Streptococcus pneumoniae. The healthy aortic wall is infected by microorganisms like Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella species. Infection by Candida is extremely rare, occurring in <1% of cases. A 72-year-old patient was admitted to the coronary unit with signs and symptoms compatible with fully evolved, inferopos-

Klebsiella pneumoniae pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta after coronary artery bypass graft.
Mycotic pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta is rare in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) and usually caused by staphylococcus aureus. We describe a patient with a mycotic pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta at the proximal vein graft anastomosis site after CABG. Culture from the sinus tract of the sternum and from the aneurysm sac was Klebsiella pneumoniae. Surgical te...

Mycotic pseudoaneurysm of the aorta is a rare disease in children. We report our experience with a postoperative mycotic pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta secondary to mediastinitis after a modified Fontan procedure. The pseudoaneurysm was successfully repaired using an autologous pericardial patch through a right thoracotomy under total circulatory arrest. During 6 months of postoperative ...

An 81-year old woman with high fever and a history of hospital admission because of pyelonephritis 3 months previously was transferred to our hospital. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography revealed a mycotic pseudoaneurysm in the ascending aorta and a massive pericardial effusion. We resected the ascending aorta and the proximal part of the brachiocephalic artery and performed in situ revascul...

متن کاملMultidrug Resistant Pseudomonas Mycotic Pseudoaneurysm following Cardiac Transplant Bridged by Ventricular Assistant Device
Mycotic pseudoaneurysm of aorta following cardiac surgery is rare but is highly fatal if it is unrecognized and untreated. Here, we report a case of a 45-year-old male patient who presented with rapidly progressive multiple pseudoaneurysms of the ascending aorta infected with multidrug resistant (MDR) Pseudomonas aeruginosa at 5 weeks after cardiac transplantation, on a background of prior brid...
